Triactive Wins Showdown at First Annual Austin Cup Barely edging out the team from VTEL/Forgent, the Dead Rock Stars of TriActive ended the day with a combined 2286 points, establishing the first annual 'home' for The Austin Cup. "Come and Take It," taunted TriActive CEO, Glyn Meek, in an email prior to the '02 tournament. "TriActive fought its way to a stunning and well-deserved victory in the Austin Cup, the titanic struggle for bowling supremacy... The Cup has been ours lo, these many months, and now the covetous hearts of men and women throughout Austin plot to defeat us on April 27."

Culture Cups Captured by Two Startups Question Technologies, with Dave Sikora at the helm and 'cruise director' Heidi Johnson commanding the action, took home the second highest honor of the day -- The Camelot Cup (now known as The Community Cup) -- for raising over $5,500 for the Children's Advocacy Center. How'd they do it? The old fashioned way...one dollar at a time! Which also won the team from Question the Culture Cup for Best Internal Promotion! But who were those rowdy creatures fresh in from the beach? The ones with the hula skirts and bowling...sandals? The team from Waveset Technologies not only took home the Culture Cup for Most Team Spirit, but judges also awarded them the Cup for Best Team Uniform as well. After months of auctioning off CEO 'packages' and holding coconut bowl-a-thons in their hallways, Waveset undeniably earned their top honors. Teams Raise Over $52,000! Although the year brought market pressures and an increased tension to the workplace, you couldn't tell from the way these companies banned together and raised a whopping $52,000 for the child abuse victims in Travis County. The Children's Advocacy Center was the benefactor of all the work these teams did leading up to the tournament. Thank you to everyone who pitched in and supported the teams!
